Tommy Hilfiger was born in March 1951 to an Irish Catholic family in Elmira New York. He had 8 brothers and sisters. Of the 9 children was the second oldest. While a young child Thomas Jacob Hilfiger has a passion for fashion.

At 18 years old began his career at a store called People's Square. This store is located in his hometown in Elmira New York. This chain of stores with 10 locations at one point, but he ended up in bankruptcy.

The first days in the fashion industry

After the Place of the people went out of business moved to New York, where he launched his own label. His mark reached its maximum media interest quite quickly and the Seal of Tommy Hilfiger went. Various rappers and hip hop groups liked their designs. They started the trend of wear clothes too big.

Hilfiger was quick not to take this and started designing clothes with a larger and bolder look. Tommy set the trend hip-hop during this time. He sent his designs to their favorite rappers.

He also designed many fragrances for women. These include Dreaming Perfume, Free Perfume, Tommy Girl Perfume True Star Perfume. Its launch latest fragrance is made with Tommy Dunn, who is a model for Tommy Hilfiger collection. The launch was coupled with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Macy's in the business.

Hilfiger also designs men's ties. His designs range from sporty to ties sophisticated. There is no doubt that he is truly talented when it comes to fashion and design talent really shows through their ties.
